[Opinions] Marilyn
I've been thinking of Marilyn lately. Is it too old-fashioned? The only Marilyns I've known have all been over sixty. I think it's very pretty and glamorous (Marilyn Monroe certainly helps with that image), and I could see it being used today. What do you guys think? Could a modern girl pull it off? Do you know any Marilyns? And finally, any combo ideas? Thanks!

Monroe.
I loved old fashioned names. I think it is beautiful.
I'd like to see Marilyn used nowadays; the Marilyn Monroe association gives it a classy image. The only combo I can think of at the moment may be a tad filler, but I think it has a nice ring to it:
Marilyn Jean
Marilyn Jean
Marilyn Jean is pretty
I think it's a pretty name. Yes, it's rather dated, but I'd love to see a little Marilyn. In fact, I HAVE seen a little Marilyn. I knew a young couple who named their daughter Marilyn after Marilyn Monroe. That Marilyn must be about eight years old now, though I haven't seen her since she was a baby. I knew one other Marilyn who was over fifty. I don't see why a modern girl couldn't pull it off. I agree it's pretty and glamorous.
I don't think it's quite ready for a revival.
Marilyn Louise
Marilyn Jane
Marilyn June
Marilyn Suzanne
Marilyn Therese

Marilyn Suzanne
Marilyn Therese
I think the youngest Marilyn I know is probably mid-forties by now.
I don't consider Marilyn to be a glamorous name. (Then again, I don't consider Marilyn Monroe to be particularly glamorous either; she aped classiness and glamor but I don't think she really had it) I always picture a Marilyn to be a middle-aged woman with her hair in curlers and her cigarette hanging out of her mouth, going outside to get her newspaper in her ratty housecoat.

I think it's pretty, and I definitely think a modern girl could pull it off. Evelyn, which is similar, has already made a comeback. I've known two Marilyns - one was from England and is in her 50s or 60s now and the other is now in her early 20s.

I absolutely love it. I can see myself using it, and I think it is old fashioned but in a charming rather than dowdy manner. It could definitely be pulled off by a modern girl, though I feel like it would work best on someone fairly quirky (just like Mabel works better for my slighty nerdy, anglophile friend, than Glynnis did for a total preppy popular girl at my school). The only Marilyn I've ever met was my great-aunt who is quite frankly amazing. :)
Combo Ideas:
Marilyn Alecto
Marilyn Bonnie
Marilyn Darcy (I like this a surprising amount since I favor Darcy as a boy's name)
Marilyn Eloise
Marilyn Esme
Marilyn Genoveva
Marilyn Georgianne
Marilyn Isolda
Marilyn Joelle
Marilyn Kathleen
Marilyn Keshet
Marilyn Nevena

A modern girl could totally pull it off. I dont know any Marilyns but Id love to meet a young girl with it.
