[Facts] Arona
Does anyone know anything about the name "Arona" found in a geneaolgy page for a family member. Name is feminine, possibly of German origin, dates back to the early 1800's. Have searched the web, references, dictionaries, all the obvious places without success. Thanks for any information. Regards. Frances Nicholson

This is purely a guess, but Aron is a Polish and Áron is a Hungarian form of Aaron. Arona could be a feminine of one of these. What was the ethnic background of the family member?

I know - my idea was more that it might have been an Anglicised feminine name based on the Hungarian masculine name. :-)
