[Opinions] Re: Tanya
1. TAHN-ya (long a sound) most definitely! Hate it when it's TANya like the A in "man."2. I like the "-ia's," although Tania seems richer than Tonia (kind of looks like Tonic.) I know a Tonya, so I like than. Tanja's pretty cool, because I hadn't realized it could be spelled that way. Any of these as a nn to Tatiana would be gorgeous (of course, a Tatiana could also be nn'd Tati.) Or Tonia/Tonya could be a nn for Antonia, which is also quite pretty.3. My impression - I like it a lot. Like I said, my friend's mother is named Tonya, so in that case I see a tall, sweet blonde woman. When I see Tanya, I think of a children's book I read about a girl by that name who is a ballerina. A Tatiana Tania reminds me of a book I read named Wildwood Dancing, so then I see a tall, slim, dark-haired and beautiful Transylvanian girl (she was on the good side, by the way.) Antonia Tonia makes me think of a (again, brunette) Italian Catholic girl.4. Sisters - Sofiya, Tansy, Jenica (pronounced with that "zh" sound), Iulia, Isobella, depending on which type of the name I'm thinking of.
