I love Finnish names. They sound really beautiful and natural, and unusual where I live. Though, they're never really talked about on this board, so, here are my favourite Finnish girl's names:Milla
Tarja
Ilma
Ilta
Irina
Irma
Vanamo
Ilona
Hillevi
Sini

I like all of them to some extent. My favorite is probably Tarja, which is followed closely by Irina. My lease favorite is probably Kirsikka, which is a bit harsh sounding as Nikki mentioned. One of my two best friends is Finnish and I've been to Finland, so naturally I love lots of Finnish names.

Favourite: Vanamo, followed by Ilta
Least favourite: HilleviMilla - Meh. It's so common and too girly.
Tarja - I can't imagine a Tarja younger than 35 years. But I like the fact that it's the name of our first female president.
Ilma - Naming a child 'air' is pretty stupid imo, especially when there are so many beautiful nature/word names.
Ilta - This has been growing on me. I prefer it over Aamu.
Irina - Iri-sound is exciting. It's an okay name.
Irma - Old lady's name. I dislike the sound, too.
Vanamo - Lovely. I love twinflowers, they are so beautiful in that fragile way. One of my favourite Finnish flower names.
Ilona - While I love 'ilo'(=joy) part, this name does nothing for me.
Hillevi - Eww. Another old lady's name, and very hideous one. It also reminds me of polecats (polecat=hilleri in Finnish).
Sini - It's simple and okay, but nothing special.
Kirsikka - I think it's silly as a name, but I love it as a word. I don't think it sounds harsh at all, it's pretty when you say it out loud, especially the first syllable.

I like Irina and Milla, but I prefer Milla as a nickname.

I know a girl my age named Hillevi and I kind of like it. The others aren't my style and I have a hard time liking Finnish names in general. Favorite: Hillevi
Least Favorite: Tarja and Kirsikka
Milla - nice, but isn't typically Finnish imo
Tarja - ugh, makes me think of a Finnish Prime Minister
Ilma - not a fan, makes me think of a politician named Ilmar.
Ilta - don't like the sound of it
Irina - I think Irina sounds more Russian than Finnish
Irma - not my style but it's a nice name
Vanamo - ok
Ilona - dislike
Hillevi - like it a lot, sweet name
Sini - for some reason it makes me think of anger. Not sure why. Don't really like the look or sound of it
Kirsikka - too many Ks for my liking, it sounds rather nice though

I really love Kirsi as a nn for Kirsikka. Irina, Ilona, Hillevi, and Sini are all lovely as well.
I love the meanings of Ilta and Irma, but I'm not sold on the phonetics.

Well I wouldn't call them natural..most finnish names are very complicated in my eyes. Milla - Nickname, but it's kinda cute..
Tarja - Too finnish! Sounds really harsh
Ilma - Prefer Elma or Alma
Ilta - Too finnish.
Irina - Too russian/finnish. Makes me think of a prostitute..
Irma - Sounds harsh, but it's better than Tarja
Vanamo - Huh? Prefer Villemo or Vellamo
Ilona - Kinda cute..
Hillevi - I like how it looks, but not the sounds of it. Also this names is dated, at least here in Sweden.
Sini - Makes me think of Sinai.
Kirsikka - Horrible. Looks finnish, sounds finnish, IS finnish. You should hear the finnish/swedish prn, it's awfully harsh! My favs are Milla and Ilona.
