I wouldn't use it for an English child if you aren't French (or your partner, anyway), it's just a very French name to me... I love the variant Elodie, without the accent, too, however, as an English version.
I think the name is very elegant, but very sweet too.
Roma and Élodie go very well together, imo, because together they are not TOO sweet, because Roma is a bit "tougher" sounding.
