[Facts] Saila
Hey all!
I've been trying to find some information on this name, that some sites say is Finnish, while others say it's a Muslim name. I can't find too much information on it's meanings or pronunciations, though. I did know a girl once with this name, who was from Finland, and she pronounced it Sie-lah. If anyone has anymore information on the origin of this name, meanings, pronunciations, etc. I would greatly appreciate it. Much thanks in advance!

Saila is used in Finland, but it is not very common. In 2008 it was given to 4 girls, so far this year to 3. Sie-lah is pretty much the correct wy to say it.It's not impossible there is a Muslim name that sounds the same, though. It happens sometimes that names pronounced the same way have origins in completely different parts of the world (like, say, Italian Chiara and Irish Ciara... Or Finnish Leila and Arabic Layla).

I'm a Finn and it's definitely a Finnish name! :)
I'm not aware of any specific meaning for it though - according to one Finnish site it seems to be just formed based on popular older Finnish female names Aila and Laila. As for the pronunciation, the one you mentioned is probably how English speakers would describe it, but as Finnish pronunciation differs vastly form that, I'll just attend an IPA type pronunciation guide: [sAilA]
(where the A is the 'a' sound, the vowel sound in English words "run", "strut", and the 'i' is as in word "sick").Hope this is of some help :)
