Message: "Alcina" - Behind the Name

I am familiarizing myself with this opera, Alcina, by Handel, and I think it is a somewhat pretty name. Alcina is a sorceress who rules over an island, and it is based off of a Greek myth. It's pronounced al-CHEE-nuh (because the opera is in Italian and that is how they pronounce it in Italian), but the name is originally Greek and pronounced al-SEE-nuh, which I think it slightly less heavy.

Alcina is pretty in Italian. I prefer Alkinoe (ahl-kee-NO-ee) in Greek.

Well, another site said it means sorceress; a sorceress who rules over an island in a myth.

My initial pronunciation was al-SEE-nuh. It is "somewhat pretty" but doesn't really have flare, at least I don't think so.
It seems like it's missing something?

I like it. It sort of sounds like a princessy name to me but it's not frilly.
