Help[Opinions] Hebrew name help please!
Hi all
we are thinking of names for no5, and would love some help!
We definately want a Hebrew name for a boy, and possibly one fro a girl (but another old style name for a girl would also be fine).
Our children are called Eli, Amos, Pearl and Iris.
So we want an unusual boys Hebrew name (I am in England and Amos and Eli are pretty unusual here) - we are a bit stuck and need some inspiration!
For girls we like Hilda, Aphra and Jean, and Hebrew names Miriam and Shifrah, so any more ideas along these lines would be very welcome!

here's a thought or two
I think you should consider Acacia for a girl. It fits with Pearl and Iris in that they're all from nature. Plus, it was the type of wood the ark was built from, so it has that biblical connection that your boys' names have.
I also like Hilda and Miriam a lot.
As to your boys...
I like Gil (happiness or joy) and Uri (my light). Plus, they're short like Eli and Amos. Other ideas are: Levi, Isaac, Noah, Ron or Shay.

I like Hilda and Miriam too.
How about...
Elisheba (the original form or Elizabeth, this is a very sacred name because it means something like "God is my oath" and in ancient Hebrew culture, the number 7, a very sacred number, was the number people took oaths on, and the last part of that name, sheba, is very closely etymologically related to the Hebrew word for seven because of that)

Seriously, I almost let out a fan-girl squee.
I think Miriam would go fabulously with the set you have there, but I also think Esther, Hadassah, Jemima, Judith, Ruth, and Susannah would look fabulous too.
For boys, what about Job, Barnabas, Ebenezer, Enoch, Ezra, Gideon, Hiram, Ira, Jethro, Jude/Judah, Mordecai, Reuben, Saul, Silas, or Tobias? All of these names have that same great old-school Hebrew vibe going on and would complement that set wonderfully.

Ebenezer is fab - but we worry about the Scrooge thing.
I love Jethro and Gideon.
Mordecai - i have loved this for ages - but is it usable?? I dont like the Cai nn, and it sounds a bit morbid. But i love it!
Love Reuben, but cant use due to complicated family reasons.
I hadnt thought of Barnabas - i like it i think and will put it to the husband.
My aunt is Susannah so it is definately a potential mn.
I love Jemima but it is very popular and i know several already (ditto Esther).
