Wdyt? I just featured her on my blog. It was my grandmother's name. How would you spell it?

I don't like it, sorryI can appreciate its history and so forth but I'm always going to find this one a typically modern 80's choice in feel and association. It's a bit low brow where I live too. The Shay- names generally are e.g Shaylee and Shayla. It's a shame I feel that way about such an old name but I cannot help it.I'd spell it as you have. Easiest for me.

I feel that way also and I'm a Shayna. All the other tack-tastic Shay- names have really ruined it. And I WAS born in the 80's... *feels stereotypical*The only thing I don't identify with is the lowbrow bit. It's so rarely used around here, though it's slightly more upperclass than many names typical of the late 80's.I'd want to spell it like Rachel's. I'm more attracted to "i"s in names than "y"s, generally.
ETA: I know this wasn't specifically asked, but I like Shaindel best of all.

I don't find it lowbrow either. I don't like Shaindel/Shayndel, it reminds me of sandal.

Hey, at least you got a girl's nameI certainly didn't ;) You are luckier than me.Looking at other responses, Shaina does seem more visually more pleasing although I've never come across it before.

SheanaNot awful as far as names goes.
I like the name Shea, so Sheana seems appropriate.

Sheana looks like (SHEE-ah-nah) and not like Shay-na. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

I love it - beautiful name. I prefer Shayna to Shaina.

It's true it's got a bit of the tacky "shay" factor, as others have pointed out, but I think it's a nice enough name. Maybe spelling it Shaina makes it simpler and more elegant, but I don't mind the "shay" spelling so much.

I prefer ShainaI like the name, would actually consider using it, but definitely prefer the spelling Shaina. The 'y' just makes it look like another trendy name unfortunately, though it's probably easier for people to pronounce that way. Very tricky situation!

It's my middle name, spelled Shaina, so I guess I'd spell it that way.No one can pronounce it though, as simple as it is. The poster Schezar's first name is Shayna, and she says she has the same problem. It's like... people suddenly develop dyslexia when they see my name.

I like it, spelled Shayna.
There's also Shaina, but I much prefer Shayna.
