[Opinions] Kelly
What do you think of Kelly for a girl? Dated? Bimbo image? Or ready for a comeback? Has it really been so common? I've never met one, have you? I however have already met 2! male Kellys. I don't mind it on a guy but prefer it on a girl.

My mom is a Kelly and she was named in the 60's, far before the huge 70's trend. She was going to be named Kelly whether she came out a girl or a boy. Also, she is the furthest from a bimbo that you can imagine. She is a teacher and is very intelligent. I can see how someone could get the bimbo image from the name though. I prefer it on a boy though, because I get a really strong Irish male vibe instead of a surfer girl from cali vibe.

I prefer it on a boy, but I see it more commonly on girls here.

I don't like seeing 70s/80's names back so soon. That was its heyday period - on girls anyway. It seemed like every second or third girl was a Kelly. I know of and have met far too many to have any set idea about bearers. All types, all sorts - it was that commonly used. It's an everyday Irish surname, like Murphy. Both hold the top two spots as the most common surnames in Ireland I think. I have many surname likes on boys and this is one of them. It's probably futile, but I hope one day it swings completely back.

I don't think it's even been too popular. Not unheard of, but not 8 Kellys in the same class.I think it's pretty. It's one of those names that I like for either sex, but because it is commonly for girls these days, I would not give it to a boy.I have good associations for Kelly. I've met/know several (male and female) and all have been nice. There was one Amber Kelly that I didn't like at all, but it was only a mn.
