I'd probably prefer it with a fall back but it has a history of use of its own, and would work on an adult.

Definately needs Nicolas, Domenico or something. Completely unsuitable for a full name.

My husbands name is Nicolaas but he goes by Nico and never his full name. I like it as a nickname but also a stand alone name.

I grew up with a guy named Nico. His FN is Bartley, I guess Nico is his MN. Anyways, this guy has always been Nico, so I think it works fine on it's own. I think it works nicely as a NN too, so either way I like it.

I think it's fine on its own, but I also like it as a nickname for Nicolas / Nicholas.

I'd prefer it as a nn to, Nikolai.
