Ten years have passed, and Augusta has had a third child, a daughter named Alyss Vittoria Maximilienne, with her second middle name after her grandfather. Chiaroscuro now has a sister, named Sestina. She looks much like her mother, and follows her older brother everywhere he goes. Emmerich and Iphigenia have both been married off, Emmerich to Countess Daria and Iphigenia to Baron Amadeus, and both have had children. Emmerich and Daria have three-year-old twins Sylvester and Sandrine, while Iphigenia and Amadeus have five-year-old twins Alwyn and Colwyn.
The royal family is planning yet another marriage, as Pelagia is now betrothed to Marquess Conrad of Yarrow, a man twelve years her senior. She’s the youngest princess, and the last of her siblings to marry.
Cassius and Apollonia have still not had any children, and the royal doctors recently announced that both are barren. The couple desperately want children of their own, and are considering adoption. They also don’t know what they’ll do when the time comes to pass the throne on. For now they’re spending as much time as they can with their nieces and nephews.
Maximilian is 53 now and considering stepping down in favor of his oldest son, Cassius, who is now 31. His only concern is Cassius and Apollonia’s inability to produce an heir.
