[Opinions] Jamie
What do you think of Jamie for a girl? Do you think it's dated? It seems to have been quite common in the 70s yet I never met one. Have you? How many and how old were they? Boys or girls?Jamie-Lynn seems to be a rather common combo just as Jamie-Lee (I've heard of 2 Jamie-Lynns and one Jamie-Lee). Ever met one with a Jamie- combo name?Do you think it's too nicknamey? Still usable today?

I LOVE Jamie on a boy but hate it on a girl!

It's okay for a girl. It sounds really dated, but I like the sort of dated feel it has.I've known a lot of Jamies and Jaimes. Mostly girls, but a few boys. Currently I only know two Jaimes (one in her mid 30s, one in her mid 20s) and one male Jamie (in his mid 20s).I've never met a Jamie-combo name. It sounds kind of tacky/trashy.I think on a girl it's just fine because it works as a feminine form of James. On a boy though I'd prefer it as a nickname, and it's my favorite nn for James. I'd use it, but my DH doesn't like it much. I think on a boy today it would feel much more usable than on a girl.

I actually like Jaime for a male or female. I think it ages well, too.I had two in my class, so that would be born in the 80's. One boy, one girl. The girl's middle name is Rose.I know two other Jaime's that are three to five years older, again one male one female. No Jaime Lynns or Lees, though. All friendly and funny, personable.

I really dislike Jamie for a girl. I could never see the appeal of it and I never understood why it was popular or what people were thinking when they bestowed this name on a girl. My daughter had a friend named Jamie back when she was a child. That Jamie would be about 27 now.I do think it's too nicknamey, bu it's certainly usable.

I love it on a boy, preferably as a nickname for Jameson or James, but it`s alright on its own. I think it`s too masculine for girls.
I know Jamie-Lynn Spears was named for her parents, Jamie and Lynn. Jamie Lee Curtis was suppoesedly named because it was a unisex combo. Rumours have circulated that she was born a hermaphrodite.
I think people on BTN overestimate datedness, it`ll be fine.
I have personally known one male Jamie and I believe one female.
