Áedán is the Old Irish form of Aodhán. It'd be like calling your child Medb or Aífe or Ériu (which would be like Æðelþryð in English); it makes no sense and is inpronouncable in Modern Irish. (The Modern Irish forms are Medhbh, Aoife and Éire.) Please use Aodhán if you want the proper Irish spelling.

I didn't know that Aedan was an actual spelling of Aidan, I just thought it LOOKED more Celtic... I wasn't sure Aodhan was as easy to pronounce.
