[Opinions] Avery and Bailey
I met two little boys named Avery and Bailey (brothers), I was suprised (happily) at their names because Avery and Bailey are usually used on girls where I live. So, do you think Avery and Bailey are better on boys or girls?

Avery on a boy, Bailey on a girl.

Avery as a masculine name has definitely grown on me. Personally, I can't see Bailey on an actual human anymore because I know three people who've used the name for their dogs.

Yeah, the only association I have with the name Bailey is a female Beagle.

While I think that is great to be unique, they will never be immediately recognized as either male or female by name. If they are, most assumptions will go toward girl (not that it is a bad thing, but not their reality). It will be a pain and, while cute now, by the time they are 10 - the novelty will have worn off and they'll be irritated. We already operate in a written and oral society where assumptions are made....they will constantly have to deal with this throughout their life.Cute, but not good naming choices.RJ

Avery seems like a boy to me, but I've never actually met anyone named Avery (boy or girl.) I've met a lot of girl Bailey's and one boy recently, but I don't really like it for either. It's better on a boy though, because it seems less trendy.

I always prefered Avery and Bailey on boys.

I don't like Avery but to me it works better on boys. I like Bailey more on girls but it's still cute on boys.

Whenever a name crosses over from boys to girls, I start disliking it on both genders. I just don't like androgynous names.

It makes a change!
But i like them better on girls.

Totally boys. I can't see either of the name on a girl and I think it's quite horrible that they are being used on girls, just like Rowan.

Avery is a boy! :DBailey is a girl to me, but it works on a boy too.

Definitely better on boys, though it wouldn't be a big deal if they were used on girls. I've only heard Avery being used for a girl fairly recently, though, like in the last ten years. Before then, it was strictly a boys' name.

Both names were on my possibles list when I had my son. Although I don't mind Avery on a girl, I still visualize a boy when I hear both names.

Avery seems more masculine though it's ok on girls too. Bailey is atrocious on both.
