I love it. I don't think the HP connection is bad at all. I mean, without it, a LOT more people would pronounce i Hermy-own. Also, it probably won't seem as weird a name because so many people have heard of it.

I like it, even without the literature connection, and can see it being used. HP is a pretty good connection. The pronunciation shouldn't be a problem, since it was explained in the books.

Since I've never read the books/seen the movies, it's just a name to me. However, to the majority of the English-speaking world, it WOULD be a Harry Potter name. If you love it enough to deal with that, cool, but if not, choose something else.

Its pretty and super cool. I like it.

I never liked this name and never saw the appeal. I just think it looks and sounds ugly. It barely even looks like a name to me so I can't see it on a real person. For the record, I love Harry Potter and most of the names used in the story.

I know that it's already used quite a bit in England, and there are a few Hermiones in America now. It's a very good association since she's so smart in the series. Thus, I can see it on a very bright, inquisitive young child.

I can picture it being used more as a middle name by name enthusiasts such as us. Other than that, I think it will be a while before we see a lot of Hermione's in birth announcements.

I know a Hermione. She was born just before HP became really famous - when the films came out. I really like it and don't think HP is a bad thing.

I don't see what the big deal is honestly [saying it in general]. Yes Hermione is connected to HP, but well so what? HP IS literature just as any other book.

I have Hermione on my list, and would use it in a heartbeat.

I can remember when I thought that Hermione was pronounced HER-mee-one. And that was well into my adulthood. Somewhere along the line I became aware of its correct pronunciation, I can't remember when or how. I suppose the Harry Potter connection will make the general public aware of the right way to pronounce it.

... In the movie, they DID pronounce it her-MON-ee, and Viktor Krum pronounced it hermy-own (or something like that)... so no, it will make it worse for the correct pronunciation (of her-MY-oh-nee). And yes, I love it very much, and a Hermione would be a rather cute name for a child, and perhaps it wouldn't sustain its slight childish tendencies through the aging process... in other words, I believe I could see a grandmother Hermione, or even a middle aged woman named that.

I do think alot more people will be able to say the name thanks to HP. And for a kid, that'd actually be a cool association.

I think anyone who has ever seen a Harry Potter movie will be able to pronounce it. So that would be...almost everyone? I can picture a real life Hermione, but I don't picture a Hermione Granger type. I picture someone artistic and colorful. I'd love to meet a real life Hermione though. I don't think the association with Hermione Granger should stop people from using the name (not like they often did anyways, but you know).
