For the most part I'm Joan with the nickname Joanie. Most people call me Joanie but my best friend is set on calling me Joan. I also get called Toni sometimes and of course Joan-Ay. Other websites list Jonae / Jonay as names, so I guess it's not that weird.

Yeah my good friend Rosemary prefers being called Rosie, but I've called her Rose since like second grade. And I hope she doesn't take offense to it because I know she loves Rosie. But it feels more natural for me to call her Rose, and I love Rose, I want to name my daughter that. Do you get ticked that your best friend doesn't use your prefered nickname?

Nah, I actually see it as a compliment. It's not that she hates the name Joanie, it's that she loves Joan so much she would rather call me that. In fact, the friend I'm referring to is the one who named her daughter Joan.
