[Opinions] Nat = Sneed
My name is Nat, but my family nickname is Sneed. I'm pretty saure I've got relatives who think my name is actually Sneed. Here's the story: My father is a huge fan of W.C. Fields. In one film, Fields is on a train and he begins to talk about Sneed Hern. Sneed Hern is very important and everyone should be excited and anxious that he is arriving. However, no one ever sees Sneed (incidentally, this is because Sneed Hern doesn't exist). When my mother was pregnant with me, my father began to refer to me as Sneed. I was very, very important, and everyone was excited and anxious about my arrival, but no one ever saw me. The nickname stuck, and continues to this day. On a side note, my brother Michael was referred to as Egbert while in the womb, but my mother refused to let it become a nickname like Sneed had. Edit: I forgot to mention, I love being called Sneed.

That's awesome! I wish my nicknames were half as interesting as yours. I love ones with a funny story or weird convoluted trains-of-thought behind them. I have a friend called Vanessa who I used to toy with nicknaming Lockie. Vanessa -> Ness -> Loch Ness -> Lockie. Never did though.
