[Opinions] Axel
What do you think of Axel? I met one today and it occurred to me that I never saw this name posted on any baby name message board. So what do you think of it? Wouldn't it be a good alternative to Alex? It makes me wonder why Axel isn't more common.Do you prefer Axel or Axl? Do you know anyone with the name?

Axel was # 15 on the popularity list last year in Sweden, so it's very common here at the moment. It's definitely having a revival. I much prefer Axel to Alex. Axel is a bit of an upper class name here by the way.
Axl just looks wrong and it instantly makes me think of Axl Rose from Guns N Roses. Not necessarily a bad association in my opinion but I wouldn't name a child after him.

Not a huge fan of Axel for boys, but I think that Axelle on a little girl is darling.EDIT: Sorry posted in the wrong spot.

Axel always struck me as a wannabe rock star name. I really dislike it. Oddly enough, I actually prefer Axl to Axel, though I don't know why. Looks more interesting I guess.

I like it. This only person I met named Axel was some boy on my brother's baseball team years ago.

Axel is a really nice name, but i can't think of that name without my thoughts automatically going to the character Axel from the video Game: Kingdom hearts.

I dont like it at all, too much of a car part name imo, like Gage. I've known an Axel, and people called him ***hole, because they thought it was close to Axel...

Axel ist used in Germany, too. But our word for armpit is Achsel and has the same pronunciation like Axel, so it is a little funny name ;) I know one man named Axel, a very very stinky person, so the name Axel fits really good, I think ;)
