[Opinions] Andreas
Opinions on Andreas? We have this name picked out for our first born son but Im wondering how people will respond to it. How would you pronounce it? We say Awn-dray-us because that is how my SO's parents pronounce it (it's his dad's middle name). What type of a child do you picture when you hear the name? And also, do you know anyone with this name?

I know plenty fo Andreas's
It's quite a common name here, and I know plenty of them. One is my old friend's oldest brother, another one is an old class mate, two is old school friends...
I think it's quite boring, but I guess it's nothing wrong with it..

I prn it as you do. I don't know anyone named Andreas. I suppose I picture a Swiss boy when I hear it.

I prefer Andrea
I live in California, so I immediately think of the San Andreas fault. I can't picture a person with the name; I just think of earthquakes.
It's a really nice, strong name. I've met one person with the name Andreas. He was an exchange student from Germany who was very shy and attractive. So he's what I picture when I hear the name.
I'd say ahn-DRAY-ahs. I like it :)
I love Andreas, which I pronounce "ahn-DRAY-us."
I pronounce it AHN-drahss.
I think it's one of the most common names I know, but I still like it. I think it's much nicer than Andrew too. I pronounce it ahn-DRE-ahs. I don't picture a particular type of child because I know so many, but it's certainly not a negative image that comes to mind.
I'm assuming you don't live in the US? We got the name from my SO's father who is from Germany. We have been told it is very common name there. I've never heard the name used here.
I'm from Germany, too. :)
In the US it's only on #969 on the list and falling in popularity, so that luckily wouldn't be an issue for you. I wish it was more uncommon here too.

Scholl
I like it because of the countertenor Andreas Scholl, whom I love, especially his "Wer suende tut, der ist vom Teufel (BWV 54)," which I listen to all the time when I am working out.
His voice is amazing, so the name is a good association for me.
