Help[Games] congrats round 2!
Hey! This round’s theme is my favorite names. There are two different lists, though, depending on the sleeping ritual you filled out! This round’s task is to describe the nursery- your new arrivals, or your first child’s! Be sure to tell me whose it is, and what color scheme you have! To those of you who wanted to sign up, you can catch up, but pick if you want a DD or DS. You still pick the names off the lists, though! No more signing up this round, please. Before bed time we tend to give Naomi a soothing lavender bath, this tends to get her to sleep longer through the night. So once Nick arrives home from work, we bathe her and put her to bed together. She has her good and bad nights, but overall she's a good lil sleeper.

We usally have supper at 6:00 and when we are finished one of us cleans up while the other gives Eli a bath, the gets him ready for bed. At about 7:30 we both go in his room and read him a bedtime story and kiss him and his stuffed fox then turn off the light and leave the door just a little bit open.

John Aidan (we call him Jack) was born shortly after Carly's second birthday. For the nursery, we decided to go with a bright, happy scene. The walls are pastel green with light blue featherdusting. Jack gets all the same furniture as Carly did--the crib, changing table, and rocking chair. He has a basket of stuffed animals on the ground next to his crib and his closet is full of puzzles and toys he can use when he's older. Carly is very excited to have somebody to play with. Jack is quite the escape artist and can get out of his crib, playpen, and even the bathtub. We are thankful he hasn't mastered the carseat yet.

Little James's nursery is done in colours of golden-baby yellow and sage green. There really is no planned theme to the room, but there are a few curly-haired brown teddy bears so I suppose you could consider that the theme. The sage greem carpeting makes it perfect for a boy, yet not too babyish for when he is older. We hope to not have to re-do the room for at least a few years (hehe).

The Fred & Ellie Kingsley are pleased to announce the birth of little Bryson Miles on November 16, he weighs 7lbs. 5oz. and has blound hair and blue eyes. The Kingsleys redecorated their nursery from pinks and flowers to blues and trains! Fred has always loved antique trains and so he decided to decorate the nursery in his favorite colors, red, blue and green, and all of the beding and curtains have a train print. Bryson's room includes a small train set that runs around a track at near the cealing which he loves to watch when he's in his crib! :)

The upper part of the wall is now covered with a yellow-and-white-striped tapestry, while the old white furniture remained the same. Katie made wonderful curtains for the large window; the room is very bright and colorful now!

Round one: Sleep ritual
The first three months of Caed's life were such a blur to us. Before he was born we read all the baby books, we thought we were prepared. Caed had other plans. No matter how many times we put the pacifer back in or how long we let him "cry it out" he would not sleep. So despite what all the books and "experts" said one night, out of pure exasperation, I put Caed to be with us. With one little interuption for a midnight snack, he slept eight hours! Apparently what little Caed needs for to get some rest is to be cuddled and loved by his mommy and daddy. Jack and I learned an important lesson: don't let "experts" tell you whats right for your kids.
Your eyes, your smile, made my little life worthwhile. The sky was a lot more blue when I was on top of you.

Round two

Since as soon as Loren was born he slept in the family bed with Jack, Caed and I he doesn't so much have a nursery. What would have been the boys room we've now converted to a play room of sorts. Really it's more of a "living" room, since that is where we spend most of out time! Caed is obsessed with cars of every sort, so we designed this room to cater to that. Half of the room is nicely decorated with soft brown carpet and light blue walls with a nice couch for Loren and I to relax, the other half is home to a large tree topped two-story mountain turnpike of Caed's dreams. A treaded rampway leads "up the mountain" to a small town consisting mostly of garages and fire stations. After sliding back down, the under side "fort" reveals a matchbox racetrack worthy of Nascar. Caed could, and often does, play all day in there, while Loren and I enjoy our time reading and cuddling.
(What a dinkus am I, I named my son Caed when my mom's name is Kate. I really need to learn to pay better attention, geez. Oh well, nothing I can do about it now.)

Really it's more of a "living" room, since that is where we spend most of out time! Caed is obsessed with cars of every sort, so we designed this room to cater to that. Half of the room is nicely decorated with soft brown carpet and light blue walls with a nice couch for Loren and I to relax, the other half is home to a large tree topped two-story mountain turnpike of Caed's dreams. A treaded rampway leads "up the mountain" to a small town consisting mostly of garages and fire stations. After sliding back down, the under side "fort" reveals a matchbox racetrack worthy of Nascar. Caed could, and often does, play all day in there, while Loren and I enjoy our time reading and cuddling.
(What a dinkus am I, I named my son Caed when my mom's name is Kate. I really need to learn to pay better attention, geez. Oh well, nothing I can do about it now.)

Dally's sleeping ritual is a simple one. She takes a bath and plays with lots of bubbles, while Mama or Papa helps her wash up. Then, she brushes her teeth and "jumps into bed" (literally!) for the story of her choice. Either Mama or Papa curls up with her for the story. After that, she's tucked in "snug-bug-rug" (short for "snug as a bug in a rug") and they turn the lights out in her room.

It's another son for us! Nathan Milo Haywood, 8lbs 5oz, was born this morning, joining his two year old brother Samuel Isaac. :) He seems to have my red hair and Logan's brown eyes, and looks just like his brother save the fact that Sam has his daddy's dark hair.
Sam has graduated to his own bedroom, a room connecting to ours, while little Nate has taken over Sam's old nursery. We've repainted it a lighter blue, with a mural depicting the sea on one wall, painted by Logan's niece Jane- a big change from the motorcycle theme that Logan picked out when Sam was born! The furniture in the room has a white and blue theme, with shells embroidered on the fabrics. Nate has a little teddy bear in his crib to cuddle with, which Sam made for him at the Build-a-Bear workshop a few weeks before he was born.
