This is a guilty pleasure of mine for a girl. I think it has a beautiful sound despite any associations with the sword or tiger. It sounds feminine to me but it would work as a boy's name as well because it is a word name.

As for the spelling, I'm an American so much prefer the spelling Saber because that is what I'm used to. However in other countries I think Sabre would work just fine.
