Hudner is an Irish name. According to De Bhulbh's All Ireland Surnames, this old Limerick name seems to be derived from Hugh, a Norman first name which mingled with Anglo-Saxon Húda to produce the common Hudde, which enters into a number of surnames such as Hudd, Hudman, Hudson, etc.
