[Opinions] Claude
What is your opinion on Claude for a boy? A girl?
I am beginning to have have strong affections for it, for a male. During the "if I was your spouse" thread, I made the combo Claude Augustin (Augustin rhymes with Justin) and it keeps sticking out on my head, illuminated by my admiration for (Achille-) Claude Debussy.
But this is a name I also wouldn't mind seeing on a girl if the middle name is French, like Claude-Aurélie, Claude-Élise, etc. I also like Claudie.

I really like Jean-Claude
I really like Jean-French name names. Jean-Baptiste, Jean-Marie, Jean-Paul, etc. The firs thing I think of when I see Claude is Monet whom I grew up looking at his paintings and learning about impressionism so that's a plus. I don't particularly like it on a girl but I wouldn't be completely adverse to seeing it. More like you have it with a hyphen so it seems more feminine.
I met a Claudia recently also, it's growing on me. Maybe Claudia nn Claudie.

I really like Claude for a boy. And I love Claudia for a girl. Another poster mentioned not liking the "clod" sound, but in my part of the US Claude sounds more like "clawed". I don't think I'd care for it much either if I pronounced it like "clod." I suppose the different pronunciations might keep me from using it in real life. But I do find it very unexpected, quirky, and dashing.
I like the name Claude simply because it's the name of one of my favorite artists, Claude Monet. Claude Augustin or Augustine is really nice. Claudia is the only female variant that popped into my head and I don't much care for it.
On a boy, I dislike it. For a girl, I like your pairings with a French middle name. I prefer it to Claudia.
I love it! It's so funny and clunky and at the same time suave and dignified. I like it better as MN on a girl.
Claude is very klunky sounding to me. I'm not at all fond of it. I can't see any reason to give it to a girl, when one has the choice of Claudia, which is one of my favorite girls' names. Claude is klunky, but Claudia is elegant. Claudia is better than Claudie.
Finally, someone else who likes Claudia! I thought I was the only one.
I like Claudia too. :)
I love Claudia, it hovers on my shortlist. I love the meaning.
Claudia
I also like Claudia. It seems like every girl I have met named Claudia is so elegant and beautiful.
I like Claudia Rose, which is a true exception, as I normally avoid Rose due to overuse as a middle name.
