Can Freda be pronounced "FREY-duh"?

I love this pronunciation, but I'm not as keen on "FREE-duh".

..Ok, truth be told, it's the name of a little girl in Lord of the Rings, that's where I heard it. I just want it to be an actual name, and I'm not keen on mispronouncing things for no good reason.

Could be a short form of Frederike. In that case it would be pronounced FREH-duh.
Freyda looks like a variant of Freyde.

I guess it could. lol I would actually try to pronounce it like Fred with an A.

The Yiddish name Freyde is pronounced Frey-duh, maybe you could look at that?
