I like Amalia. Where i live in the U.S., I have heard of it being used only among people with a Hispanic/Latino heritage. Amalia seems like a name that could "catch on," and enjoy wider use.
I like the sound of Amalia much better than the sound of Amelia. It seems that Amelia gets a lot of attention on this board, but I don't like the "mealy" sound of it.
