That whole Avi Ben Stella hoax on facebook for me thinking about the name Avi (for a male), and I actually do like it a but. Probably not enough to use myself, also since my last name ends with i, but it has its appeal. Thoughts?

It's nms but may work as a nick name.

I like Avi as a nn for Aviel or Avigdor as well as the names in the data base
Friends named their daughter Aviel last year - must be a spinoff from the Ava and Ariel thing because it's a boy's name in the Bible (Abiel)
Amiel could similarly be appropriated for girls, following an Amy theme.
I also like Aviya for a girl (male name in Bible Abijah)
