[Facts] Hillervo
Where from comes a Finnish female name Hillervo? It has been used as a family name too.

Hi Lemuel,The meaning of Hillervo does not seem to be clear. It is the name of a fairy of waterfalls and streams in Finnish folk poems.Regards, Satu

The little-used name Hillervo has been a mystery for me, too. I'd say it's a variant of Hillevi, formed along the lines of the ancient Finnish female name Tellervo (as well as the male names Kullervo, Pellervo and Kalervo).

The root "hill" in finnish words like hillantä or hillike means check, restrain. I gather the name might mean "the one with a restrain".

Sounds like a variant of Hillevi - but I'm sure Satu can help you!
