Anette is very dated (1950's/60's). I prefer the spelling Annette, dated as well ('70's/80's) but nicer to look at.I don't mind Peter but I never really cared for it either.Emilie is cute but incredibly popular and - IMO - overused.I really like Philine (Phéline, too, by the way). It's pronounced fee-LEEN, derived from the Greek word for "to love" and I think it makes a lovely middle name.

The only one I care for is Peter.

Well, I like Peter pronounced the English way and Emilie spelt Emily. I've always hated Anette no matter how it's spelt and Philine looks awful. I don't even know how to pronounce it. fi-LEE-ne? fi-LEEN? No clue.

It's hard for one to judge foreign names. My college roommate had a boyfriend whose parents were German-born. His name was Detlef. When she first told me his name, I was like, "What? Huh?" To me, an English-speaking American, it was weird, but I'm sure it's fine for Germans. I just can't judge it the way a German would be able to.So to me, Anette should be Annette, Emilie should be Emily, and Philine is just weird.I've always hated Peter.

Those are pretty unusual German names, except for Peter. Emilie is growing in popularity I think, I prefer Emilia though. Anette would be nice if spelled Annette and Philine is weird in my oponion.
