All I can think of is that where I'm from, she'd get teasing like, "Is your middle name Ivory?"
It's really too bad, because Ebony is quite pretty. I also rather like Ebon for a boy, but it sounds way too close to ebonics to use.
Ebony Layla (though I'd spell it Ebony Leila) sounds really nice. I think that a two syllable middle name would work well. Ebony Helen, Ebony Jewel, and Ebony Maura also spring to mind. Maybe Ebony Harper or Ebony Orla?
