[Opinions] Olive
WDYT of Olive on a girl?
I don't like Olivia but I'm starting to really like Olive, and I love 'Ollie' as a cute NN. Do you like it? Do you prefer it to Olivia? Thanks xxx

I like Olivia, but I just can't stand Olive. They look similar in writing, but the change in syllable emphasis makes a BIG difference. I just can't see giving a girl the name Olive. It's just not at all attractive to me.I can't say that I find Ollie a nice nickname for a girl. I don't find it nice for a boy, either, which is why I'd never use Oliver. If I had an Olivia, I'd use Liv or Livvy for a nickname, never Ollie.

I really like it. Much more interesting than Olivia. I think Ollie is cute for a girl. It's one of the few nns I see as more masculine that I like on a girl-- I think they're rather vibrant.

Personally I prefer Olivia because an Olive is food. Just like Vanilla, Paprika, and Sour Cream are (and you don't see kids with these names commonly, do you?)

I think I prefer Olivia. Olive just makes me think the fruit and Olive Oyl.

Personally, I find Olivia to much more dignified and pretty than Olive. Olives are a food you stick on the end of your fingers when you're a kid.

Olive is too "foody". I prefer Olivia, but it bores me.

Sorry, it doesn't do much for me either. It's not too bad though. I think I'd actually prefer Livia, if it wasn't so likely to get confused with all the Olivias.

With olive oil being such an "in" food item at the moment, Olive is going to get teased mercilessly. Is anybody else anticipating high school Olive being asked if she's "extra virgin"?

I love Olive.

Olive is too oily and too Popeye; though I had an excellent Aunt Olive.Olivia is very overused, but still retains its elegance.

I likes it But then, I am a professed lover of old lady chic. This name seems very smart, hip and sharp to me. someone with very high intelligence and a very opinionated nature.
