It lacks the classic charm of Charlotte.
I think it would have caught on in the '80s if it was going to catch on at all, because it was the nameof Kylie Minogue's character in "Neighbours" opposite Jason Donovan (she played an apprentice car mechanic and they had a teenage wedding - bless!) :~)
In those days "Neighbours" was really big in Oz.

I seriously don't see how it is dated. It has the potential to become more common, but I only see that happening if Charlotte makes the top 25 or so.

For me, Charlene has more sentimental value as I remember when I was younger I really liked the name. Charlotte is a more recent like for me.
