[Opinions] Do you think its wrong pronouncing...
Nimue as NIM-oo-ee? I always thought it was that way...

Well, if you add an umlaut...Nimuë could be pronounced "NIM-oo-ee" (if I understand the way umlauts work properly, that is).But I must agree with the already-stated argument that NIM-oo-ee sounds less attractive than NIM-oo-ay. Atleast for me.

Yes, since you can't make up a name's pronounciation. I'm always tempted to pronounce Celtic names like they're written, such as "N-ee-am" for Niamh and "Sao-eers" for Saoirse, that doesn't mean that it's right to pronounce them this way (and that's why I'm in favour of Anglicization, but that's OT).

YesYou can't pronounce things in ways they aren't meant to be pronounced. It's incorrect and confusing. When I was a kid I liked the name Emil, but I thought it was pronounced EM-əl, like Emily without the ee. Later I found out it was e-MEEL, and I don't like it. So I keep the incorrectly pronounced version to myself as a GP.

ButThe "wrong" pronunciation of Emil is the correct one in Sweden, so in this case it definitely depends on where you live. It's not an incorrect version, just not the English one.

Well, it's more or less the right pronounciation of Emil in German :-)

Averlee...I once knew a girl named Averlee. Or Averile. Or something like that. Anyway, I remember saying hello Averlee (you know, like Avery but with an L), to which she promptly responded by sneering and putting her hand on her hip, saying, "My name is ah-vree-ELLE." Whatever the spelling, I can assure you that it was not anything that looked like that; I could have possibly gotten it from Avrielle. It was not that.To which I just sort of blinked. That is what I think of prn Ismene as iz-MEN-ee and Nimue as NIM-oo-ee. It defies logic. It's one thing to correct other people when they mistakenly misprn your name, but think about the flip side -- she's going to have to correct people who prn it correctly.Regardless of all that, I think the correct prn are just far prettier. iz-MEN-ee sounds like "is many" and NIM-oo-ee sort of sounds like "phoeey" or "bouy."

I don't see how it would "defy logic" to say them like that. Unlike Averlee, all of the components of those pronunciations are in the names. Ismene=Is men e= iz-MEN-ee. Nimue= Nim u e= NIM-oo-ee. It makes sense to me.
