[Surname] Dougray and Dougary
Dougray just another form of the French surname Dougary?

Dougray and Dougary are Scottish surnames which have many other variants as you can see at http://tr.im/ziZp
Scottish-French
Scottish, really? And the meaning is?
Many sources say they were French in origin? Some sites mention Dougary et al being Huguenot Protestant emigrant names to Ireland/Scotland.
I've also seen Dougray cited as a form of Degare. I have no idea.
Thanks.

If the name is originally French, and it very well could be, it's not Dougary or Dougray. The only spelling variant I've come across that corresponds to a French name is Dugarry which designates a person from one of the places named Le Garry in southwestern France.
