To me it seems very Hispanic, and I can't picture a non-Hispanic with this name.I knew a Yolanda once, and she was of Mexican parentage, so I guess that reinforces the image for me.I don't care for the name at all. The initial syllable Yo just isn't attractive to me.I can't think of any nicknames for it. The Yolanda I knew was always called Yolanda.

I love Yolanda though I prefer to spell it Jolanda. I like it with the nickname Jola, although I think Yola looks kind of silly. I don't tend to be a huge fan of Y's. My mother has a sassy little Italian Aunt Jolanda (or Yolanda; I've never seen it written, to my memory). It give me a little feisty impression of the name. :-D

Sorry but I hate it. I think it sounds awful and it looks really unattractive. It's a comical name in my opinion, one you would use for a silly character. I really can't like it.
