Valentin is a thirteen-year-old boy from Russia. He used to live with his parents, but when they died in an accident, he had to be given for adoption. He lost his left leg in the accident. Valentin likes to play music, and is very talented with it.
Dorothea Anne is an eight-year-old girl from New Zealand. Her parents having divorced, after a long and difficult negotiation, the court decided that she is to be given up for adoption. Dolly likes to play with other children and animals, and brings with her a pet turtle named Jade.
Richard Eugene is Dolly's six-year-old brother. He likes watching cartoons, playing ball, and music. It is also notable that Ricky is a very good runner for his age.
