[Opinions] Ember
I never liked Amber, but Ember is growing on me. I think it sounds kind of cool. Thoughts? MN suggestions? What does an Ember look like in your head?
Thank you! :)

I think I might "warm up" (pardon the pun) to it if it were alternately spelled Embre.

I'm torn about Ember. OOH, it's really strange to name one's child for an ember, OTOH, I like how it sounds better than Amber. I guess it's nice. It's a good idea for you to pair it with a more traditional mn.
I like it. I picture a little dark-haired girl with lots of energy. Agree with what arcadia said about pairing with a more 'conservative' name. Ember Meredith is indeed lovely!
Ember is really growing on me, too. I do have a hard time finding any usable combos, though.
How "popular" is Ember, by the way? As it's not in the database, I suppose it's a rather "new" name?

I like the name. I've always paired it as a mn with Jessalyn. Jessalyn Ember.
You know, I think you're right-it does work better as a middle name. Thanks!
It sounds kind of hot to me. And glowing. :) It's not too bad though, and it would make a good nn for something like September.
Honestly, Ember seems even more tackier/trashier than Amber to me. And it's too wordy.
Ember sounds a little redneckish to me, but I do like Embrey (family name).
Ooh! I really like Embrey! Is it a family surname or first name? I like it a lot more than Ember (though I agree, Ember has a cool appeal to it).
Embrey
Originally it was a surname in my family, but has also been used as a female first name since.

I think Ember is pretty, but I'm not sure if I'd use it. (gah, hate to admit, but my name tastes are growing more conservative - eep!) As with many slightly out there names, my suggestion is to balance Ember with something complimentry but more traditional. Ex:
Ember Amelia
Ember Aurelia (okay, maybe not this, Aurelia's out there too, but omg, pretty)
Ember Clarisse
Ember Meredith
Ember Josephine
You get the idea. :)
