Gabriella Marina is a 13-year-old girl from Italy. Her mother died years ago and her father is in jail for fraud and embezzlement, so she was put into foster care. Gabriella is a smart girl with an uncanny knack for Physics and Chemistry, but she also loves listening to music, photography and playing videogames. She dreams of working at CERN or NASA. Gabriella has wavy brown hair, blue eyes and slightly tanned skin.
Alfie Jack is an 8-year-old boy from England. His parents simply left the house one day and never came back, so he was put up for adoption. Alfie likes cars, motorcycles, dogs and computer games. He has a Cocker Spaniel named Joe whom he wouldn't like to be separated from, and no plans as for his future profession. Alfie has straight blond hair, grey eyes and fair skin.
David Joshua is a 5-year-old boy from the USA. His parents died in a fire, and he has been living with his aunt, uncle and cousin since then. One year later
Juliet and I are very happy to meet our three new children! Connie is also very pleased to have a new sister and two brothers with her.
Gabriella has been progressing outstandingly in her studies. Recently, her school placed her as their representative in a rocket-building competition. With some help from the entire family, Gabriella constructed a small homemade rocket for the contest, and won! We are all very proud of her. She has bonded very well with Connie, and to celebrate her first anniversary living with us, has been given a brand new camera.
Alfie is also very happy. He spends most of his free time playing computer games with Davey or playing ball with Joe and Mina. Alfie and I also like to play with the remote-controlled cars, and we have recently bought him his own RC car. He now has plans for his future: he has declared he wants to be a motorcycle racer like his idol, Valentino Rossi.
Davey is going on well with the rest of the family. He seemed to be quite attached to Alfie, who was rather protective of him. Davey has become fluent in Italian and loves to play football with his neighbours, especially the comical Benito, whom he calls "Mr Bean".
We thank you one more time for the joy you have brought into our lives!

Nirmala is a shy girl who loves pottery, reading, plants and learning new things. She would like to learn more languages and become an English or French teacher. Nirmala has straight black hair, brown eyes and tanned skin.
Liliya Oksana is a 12-year-old girl from Ukraine. Her stepfather abused her for years, but eventually he was arrested for beating up another man. Liliya's mother refused to believe what her husband had done to her daughter, so Liliya was put into foster care. She is wary of strangers, especially males, and often expresses her feelings and state of mind through her drawings. Liliya has recurrent nightmares, but with professional help they may occur less frequently. She would like to study Arts or History. Liliya has straight blonde hair, blue eyes and fair skin.
Amadeo Filippo is a 9-year-old boy from Italy. His parents died in a car accident, and so he was given up for adoption. Amadeo is always smiling and is surprisingly calm for a boy his age. He likes to read, especially fantasy books, animals and science - especially things related to outer space. Amadeo dreams of being an astronaut; however, he suffers from an agressive form of leukemia, and both chemo and radiotherapy have proved ineffective - a bonr marrow transplant is Amadeo's only chance. He has curly red-brown hair, hazel eyes and fair skin.
Femi Adisa is a 6-year-old boy from Nigeria. His mother died of an AIDS-related infection, so he was put up for adoption. Unfortunately, Femi is HIV-positive too. Despite this, he's a cheerful child who loves to learn and play with other kids. He wants to be a doctor when he grows up. Femi has curly black hair, black eyes and dark skin.
Ivana and Nevena are 2-year-old twins from Bulgaria. Their parents emmigrated a year ago, leaving them with an aunt, but recently there have been no news of them, and their aunt can't stay with them anymore. Nevena likes singing, dancing and dressing up, while Ivana prefers to watch TV, fingerpaint and play hide-and-seek. Both girls have straight brown hair, green eyes and fair skin.

The delay is certainly understandable and completely forgiven! Afterall, the adoption process can be quite lengthy. ;)
Nirmala is now seventeen, and her name has been changed to Bethari Nirmala. We gave the children the option of changing their names to ones more easily understood and pronounced in this culture, and they all jumped at the chance. Nirmala chose Bethari, an Indonesian name I suggested for her, and opted to keep Nirmala as her middle name as a way to stay connected to her past. She now goes by Beth among her friends. The devastating loss of her family coupled with her shy nature made it a bit hard for her to open up to anyone, especially at school. She had some difficulty at first, but after a while she became more talkative and now has quite a few friends, as well as a boyfriend. That came as no surprise to us - Bethari is a beautiful young woman with a lot going for her. :)
Liliya Oksana is now Clara Liliya Oksana. She expresed a desire for a new name, but was reluctant to fully give up her old one. She mostly goes by Clara, but Bethari affectionately calls her Lili. Clara has been seeing a psychiatrist for the past year, and it has greatly helped her nightmares, but she still has them sometimes. Her doctor is very optimistic, however. It was difficult to get her to open up about her past, but the ice was broken through art therapy, which Clara loves. She now says she plans to be an art therapist when she grows up.

We're pleased to tell you he got the transplant and it has done wonders for him, but we're still not sure what the future holds. It's been only a year but he's such an important part of our lives. We'll miss him terribly when he goes away to space camp for a few weeks this summer, but we're all very happy that he's getting the chance.
We chose Femi's new name, Finlay Benjamin. He's made many friends in school. He truly enjoys it; he loves learning new things and interacting with other children. We're very proud of him. Recently he asked for a puppy of his own and we saw no reason to say no. He's a very responsible child and has been taking good care of the family's newest addition, Pedro the white lab.

We changed Mihailo Pavle's name to Milo Pavle Lima. He is now 7, and in his second year of school. He is top of his class, he is a very smart boy. Milo is doing wonderfully and gets along with his siblings well. He loves meeting new people, he is very open. As a treat for good behaviour, his parents bought him a tree house and put it in the backyard. It is Milo's sanctuary, he loves it. Although he is young, he dreams of being an athlete like his idol Lance Armstrong. His new parents are encouraging his passion, they often go on long bike rides together.

She often helps in preparing meals, and we have developed a system where she earns points based on her cooking performance. Myles and I are so thrilled to instantly have a house full of children! First off, we have decided to give each of the children new names, as a sort of welcome-to-our-family gift.
Paige is now Agnes Spring, because we think she looks like a little lamb (lamb is kind of the unofficial meaning of the name Agnes) and because her birthday often falls on the first day of spring. She is sweet and cuddly--you can tell her grandmother raised her with a lot of love. We've already made it out to Riverside once to visit her family, and they are thrilled to see Agnes healthy and thriving.
Miguel is now Clemente Roy, and we've been calling him Clem. Clemente honors our favorite place to go for a family day--the beach at San Clemente, and Roy is for his personality--he is a little king! We're not quite sure yet whether he is acting so hyper and imperious because of the transition to a new home, or if this is just how he is! He and Agnes have really begun to bond, though, and she hugs him and holds him when he gets overstimulated and upset.
Sadie is now Eve Alix, and Chloe is Laure Apolline. Evie and Laurie, as we call them, are so sweet. Myles hates me for this, but I love to dress them up in matching outfits. Evie is more rambunctious--she's the one who really keeps us awake at night, while Laure is the smiley--or gassy?--one. We'll see how they develop. Six months later
It's been just over six months since Eleonore "Ellie" and Kristin joined our family. They have had a few issues though, sometimes they would wake up crying for their families. They are doing a lot better now, both have quickly picked up English (but they still speak German all the time) and are excelling in school. Ellie is an outstanding soccer player and made the final cut for her school's soccer team. She loves going on our family hikes every weekend with her new family. Jasmine and Libena have settled well and have completed our family. Ismene and I love being parents.
Jasmine has found her way her with us. She is more self-confident and assertive and finally knows who she is. She adores her little siblings and has been a great help around the house. She was very happy when she discovered none us us knew how to play chess so she taught us. She tried out for her high school's basketball team and made it! We're all very proud of her!
Libena loves having two younger brother to watch over and teach. Her and Morgan and Thomas have all become really close and they do everything together. Libena often helps with meals but when she's not helping to cook she's sitting outside drawing. She has been seeing a professional about her dyslexia and has improved greatly. She is on track at school and has even started to read for her own enjoyment. With the help of the family Libena has stayed in touch with her aunt through letters and they love to exchange photographs.
As for Vit, he just loves being the center of attention! With four doting kids at all times, he's just soaking up the love and attention and becoming rather spoiled!

6 months later and question
After finding out we were going to have to go to France, Russia, and Israel we didn't know where to start. We ended up going clockwise starting in Russia. When we got to the orphanage Ally (once Alyona now Allison Tamara) and Leah (once Larisa now Leah Marie Theodora) pounced up on us. They were very glad to be going home with their "mama" and "papa". Igor (once Igor Aleksey now Igor Alexander) was a little more hesitant but soon followed in his sisters' footsteps. We all happily left the orphanage and went to a hotel where the rest of the kids were wating for us. The kids felt right at home with their five siblings but felt it was still two quiet. Three days later we headed to Israel to get Yonatan (once Chaim now Yonatan Chaim) and Zachariah (once Maor now Zachariah Maor). When we got to Israel we put the kids with my parents immediately went to the orphanage. Ally, Leah, Cara, and Tallie played dolls, Igor took a nap, Julie, Tim, & Andy played a game of soccer. At the orphanage we were handed Yoni and Zach and told we could leave right away. On the way home from the hospital we picked up a few presents for the kids. The kids were delighted as they were told these were presents from the boys. After about a month of bonding Julie, Igor, and I flew to France. Everyone else went back to our home in Amsterdam. When Julie, Igor, and I arrived we went to our hotel for the night. The next morning we set out to pick up Maggie (once Celine now Margaret Cecelia). Maggie was confused when she saw us because she'd been told that we had ten children. After getting an explanation she happily went to the hotel with us. We spent about two days in the city and they took a train home. Now six months later I can't imagine my life without them. Soon we will be leaving for a contintent wide adventure. If you want to be kept posted just let us know. We would love to adopt a little boy (5 or under) from anywhere in europe while we're on the trip

Milo was very impressed of getting so many new siblings all of a sudden. He loves it, though - there's always someone for him to talk to (in a mix of English and Estonian and gestures) and to play with around the house. Also he's very proud of being Sevda's big brother, which is a completely new experience for him.
Maret has started to set out a vegetable garden next to the house and wants to grow her own carrots and tomatoes. She's often to be found between her plants, earth all over her clothes, and writing a new thought on a slip of paper.
