I don't have any combos with it as a first name, but I do have the combo Mackenzie Columba, even though I don't find it to be mind blowingly great. I don't think an ordinary sort of name could take being next to Columba. It needs to be with stuff that is equally fantastic. Like...

I like its interestingness, but when I say it, it sounds quite graceless, probably because it's got 'lumber' in it. And Anneza has a good point about its gender-ambiguousness. I think I'd prefer it on a boy, if only because the saint is reasonably well-known because of schools and churches.
I have a cousin called Colombe who's a boy, but I can't see that working outside France.

I prefer the rhythm of Columbine, and also the fact that it is not in any way gender-ambiguous. Give a girl the name Columba and you are being needlessly inaccurate; give it to a boy and the explanations of why it ends in an -a will never end.

I know a woman called Columbine, a very tough high-school principal, and it suits her well. But I've never met a Columba. There's a church near where I live called St Columba's, and it frequently appears in the media as St Columbus!

I kind of like it... I'd say it's best as a mn. Would you use it on a boy or a girl?
