[Opinions] Wednesday
...as in Addams, yes!I was talking to my friend today about costumes (I'm having a party on friday) and she said she was going as Wednesday Addams. That got me thinking.Think this name could work in the real world?? Even as a dorky choice for goths or movie-lovers? I mean, if people can name their kids things like Brecklynn, why not Wednesday! ...too nerdy?

People are named after seasons and months, so I don't think that it's that weird to use days as names. I think it would be neat to meet an actual Wednesday, Sunday, etc.

Hmm, I'd much rather see a single Wednesday running about than a whole pack of Crystalls, Brecklynns, or Kandiis. It's actually a name I would consider not just working in the real world, but using on one of my own children.

I see nothing wrong with it aside from "The Addams Family" link. If that doesn't bother you, use it.Wendy would be a cute nickname.

I never quite understood the appeal of day of the week names as given names, especially when they are combined with another word name.
That's just not my cup of tea.But I think they are miles "better" than creations like Brecklynn.
And isn't there a country where people get the name of the weekday they were born on as a second middle name? (I forgot which country that was...)
I just think I'd find it strange to be named Wednesday when I actually was born on a Saturday or something like that.

Ghana maybe?I have a friend from Ghana and one of her names means "born on Sunday". Not sure if that's all all-Ghana thing though, or just her! I'll have to ask.Yes, I would definitely name a Wednesday on a Wednesday too I think. Unless you used it for its "cultural" ties only (the Addams Family *snap snap*).

I don't believe that...a beautiful name such as Wednesday should EVER be compared to Brecklynn, other that in Brecklynn is so much less sophisticated than Wednesday, and that Wednesday rules while Brecklynn drools.
If I went for a goth theme with naming, I'd consider using Wednesday.

it was just an exampleI think Wednesday is much classier than Brecklynn too ;)

My music history professor named her daughter Wednesday, after Wednesday Addams. It's a real cute sound, isn't it? I couldn't use it, and I do find it a little over-whimsical, but what the hell, people name their kids silly things all the time, why not Wednesday?

That's incredible that your your professor used it! And after the character, even cooler.

It is kind of nerdy, but on a dork-o-meter where 10 is adorably dorky and 1 is ickily dorky, I'd give it an 8. I think it's totally usable and 1000x more fun than things like 'Brecklynn'. Also, when you were a grandmother, you'd get to use 'Wednesday's child is full of woe'. :D

Maybe she would get some Wednesday Addams jokes?I used to loathe day of the week names, now I'm ok with though they're still not really my cup of tea. But there's indeed certainly worse names out there.

I really like Wednesday and I think it could work in the real world just fine.

If Nicole Kidman can have Sunday,Why not? I like Wednesday. I once had a Sim family with a daughter named Tuesday, who eventually had a daughter named Wednesday. But when Wednesday had a daughter named Thursday, I knew I'd gone too far. lol.
Though, I prefer almost all word names in the MN spot, and Wednesday is no exception, unless you have a really awesome combo.

I will have to put my combo hat on! I think Wednesday is one of the cooler day-names. I also like Friday.:)

oops. I was going to add this to my original message: I wonder if she'd get "hump day" jokes. Not that hump day is sexual, but it certainly can be taken that way.
