[Opinions] Geraldine
I've recently been growing rather fond of the name Geraldine. I don't know how this has happened. There's no celebrity or great fictional character named Geraldine that springs to mind. Out of nowhere I've developed a fascination with it.
I expect that it won't get a lot of love here. What do you think?
Although I don't normally care much for Mary, I do like Geraldine Mary.

I was actually thinking about this name today and found myself saying, "It actually isn't half bad". Once I got over the initial attack of the uglies that overcame me every time I saw/heard Geraldine, I evaluated its look and sound and almost kinda liked it.
I like it and have it on my long list. It's a great name.
My great-great aunt's name was Geraldine. She was very outspoken and the whole "mighty with a spear meaning" fit her perfectly.
I'm glad you like it! I think it's quiet and mossy also.
I didn't know of Geraldine Chaplin.

Can't say I'm feeling the love...
but that's probably due to personal acquaintance.

Read Coleridge's poem "Christabel" for a Geraldine with a difference!
I prefer it to Gerald, which is unusual for me: usually I'd go for Joseph rather than Josephine, Robert rather than Roberta etc. But not enough to ever use it. I used to play with a really boring Geraldine when I was little: perhaps that had influenced me.
Geraldine Mary has got a lovely 1930s air about it! Geraldine Tiffany, for instance, would be dreadful.

I love that poem so very much, but oddly associate the spookiness of the work with the name Christabel rather than Geraldine - not sure how that happened. Maybe it had to do with knowing a cute-as-a-button Geraldine at the same time I was reading it!
