It's been two years since Evan and Asia got married, and Asia has recently given birth to their first daughter, whom they named Eris Linnet (apparently, the Shuttleworths' taste in names isn't affected by name meanings). Everything seemed to be going perfect for the family, until a few weeks ago: a middle-aged woman with a young girl by the hand came knocking on their door. The Shuttleworths were curious and surprised as to what they might want, and after a long, long conversation, everything came to light.
About five years ago, while in college, Evan had briefly fooled around with an Erasmus student from Slovenia. After her three months were up, Manca went back home with an unexpected surprise - a few months later, she gave birth to a baby girl. She decided not to tell Evan, for fear he might want to take the baby with him. It worked out for four years, when Manca was diagnosed with lung cancer. Despite all the treatments she got, the disease wouldn't let up, and so Manca decided it was time for Petra to know her father, who would be able to provide her with a better life than Manca's parents (who didn't see eye-to-eye with their daughter on many things, Petra being one of them). After much begging and pleading, Manca talked her mother into travelling all the way to Evan's place (she had found out his address through a mutual friend from college years) and leaving Petra with him.
And so it happened. Petra is still adapting to her new life and family, but she's started to pick up some English. It was a bit of a shock at first, but both Asia and Evan are very fond of her. Petra seems to be rather excited about Eris, and spends a lot of time singing to her. Things seem to have turned out for the best...
