It's certainly taken a long time for last year's most popular baby names to be released; after all, Israel's population isn't large.

haha I always find it so funny that my sisters (Yael and Shiri) and I (Michal) can go to pretty much anywhere else in the world besides Israel and barely anyone will have heard of our names before and then you look at the top names in Israel and Michal and Yael are on the top 11 and then Shira is which is super close to Shiri.

Of the boys' names, I love Noam and David. Yonatan is cool but I can't get used to it.
I really like Noa, Shira, and Tamar from the girls' list. Yael is growing on me. I wouldn't have thought Daniel or Amit were unisex- that's really interesting.
I adore Hala, and Noor as well, though to a lesser extent.

The only boys names I like are Noam (love this!) and Daniel. The rest are really old-mannish (like Moshe) or just nms.
Of the girl names, I like: Shira, Yael, Tamar, Talia, Michal, and Adi. Not bad.
Noam would also be cute on a girl, but I have a hard time seeing Adi on a boy. Daniel on a girl is really weird, too.

Moshe! And Shira!
I love Moshe, I suspected it was getting really popular due to me seeing quite a few little Moshes in strict Jewish families.
I have a friend Shira and a friend Noor whom I both adore. As a result I've grown to absolutely love those names. Maryam seems cute though. I know a male and female Ariel who are both Jewish and about my age so that name has seemed unisex to me for awhile.

Oh, that's interesting! I see that Noa it's still at the top, I find this name is the Israeli equivalent of my own in terms of protracted popularity.
Idan could gro on me. Maya is a favourite of mine, otherwise there's nothing I'm really in love with. I'd no idea Daniel was unisex, I assumed Daniela was used for girls. I like Amit for boys.

It seems that Daniel has been recently "borrowed" in Israel for girls. On the website of the Israeli newspaper Haaretz there's an article about the trend for unisex names there. It quotes Prof. Miri
Rozmarin of Tel Aviv University re the trend.
She said that almost every one of the most popular cross-gender names - Noam, Amit, Ariel, Daniel and Adi - moved from being a boys' name to being a boys' and a girls' name. "Girls taking on a boy's name is part of the attempt of girls to gain equality. ...they are almost masquerading as boys through the name."
Girls' names which became boys' names - such as Adi, Neta and Ma'ayan - are gramatically masculine, she says.
"But mostly the name exchanges go in one direction - from boys to girls. The other direction is very peripheral."
