Bo, as in the French word.
Definitely a boy's name, as it's a masculine word: Belle is the female version. (Though I guess you could use Bo after Bo Derek, if you really wanted to). It reminds me of my granny, who used to use it as a term for boyfriend - 'Have you got a beau yet?'

ditto thisAfter studying French, using Beau as a female name just seems really odd. Plus, using Beau to mean a boyfriend isn't extremely uncommon in English. I wouldn't use it, but I wouldn't think it was that weird if someone else did, especially an older person.
