Gracelyn Vanessa is a small newborn from the Philippines. Her parents unfortunately abandoned her on the agency's door step. Her skin has a fairly dark tan complexion and her eyes are the prettiest dark brown. Her head is already full of jet black hair. Your best friend, Bobbie, traveled with you and Corey to adopt Gracelyn. She will grow up calling Bobbie, Aunt Bobbie. Update on how Gracelyn has progressed through the past year.(HAHA)

One year later....It has been one full year since we were blessed with Gracelyn Vanessa. Corey and I are very grateful that Bobbie showed her to us. Gracelyn is doing wonderfuly; she is now one. Gracelyn has already started walking and she loves to go places. She is still learning to talk, but she is progressing very nicely. She loves to spend time with the both of us. She misses her Aunt Bobbie though because somebody doesnt come to visit as after as the should. ;) (haha) She is a wonderful child. Corey and I couldnt be happier.

Gemma Denise - 7
Gemma was abandoned the hospital. Her parents just left her there. Gemma loves talking. She is definitely not shy. She is known around the agency to stand up for the younger children. She does not tolerate people being picked on. She loves animals and helping out in the kitchen. She aspires to become a ballerina, but the agency can't afford to have her put in dance classes. Adelina Cathrin - 15
Adelina has been in adoption agency's her entire life. She has watched all her friends leave into good homes and couldn't help but wonder what was wrong with her. She is a bright girl. She plans to go to school to become a nurse, though she doesn't know where she'll get the money. She loves hanging out with her friends from school. She fluently speaks both English and German, having lived in Germany until she was 8. Reading is not really her thing; She's more into math. At school she is member of the Tennis Team. She is very outspoken and isn't afraid to voice her opinion.

one year later.....Its been one year since Gemma and Adelina "Addy" joined our family. Both adjusted very well to their new lives in Vancouver. Gemma, now 8 years old, is almost attached at the hip to Alden and Arwen and talks to them for hours about life at the adoption agency. She also helps cook supper almost every night with Richard and we have enrolled her in ballet class. Adelina or "Addy", now 16 years old, has adjusted well to her new school in Vancouver, is on the honor roll and is excelling in her math and science classes. She plans on applying to go to University of British Columbia to take her nursing degree since we can afford her post-secondary schooling. All our girls enjoy our weekend hikes and trips and we also took Addy to her old adoption agency from when she used to live in Germany. We would all like to thank you very much for giving us two beautiful daughters.Sincerely,
Katherine, Richard, Adelina, Alden, Arwen, and Gemma

Anneliese Callie - 4
Anneliese was the victim of abuse and at age 2 she was placed in the agency. Her parents fought desprately to get her back. They went to counseling and such, but no judge ever found them fit parents. Anneliese mainly keeps to herself. She is afraid to speak out because this was what sometimes brought on the brutal attacks from her parents. She does not question things and tends not to socialize. She does enjoy listening to the radio, watching cartoon, and playing with her only doll.
Molly Anne - 14
Molly ran away from home when she was 12 and once she was found, her parents put her into the agency. While at the agency, Molly met Andrew. 2 months later Molly was pregnant. She is a smart girl, just dealt a bad hand. She is definitely a book worm and loves words. She loves the outdoors and prefers the sunlight. She is not ashamed of her mistakes and openly admits that some of the things she has done is wrong, but she knows that she is the one who has to live with them. She is still going to high school. She is fairly popular and loves making new friends. Andrew supports her and plans to be around with the baby.

We are very happy with Anna and Molly. Anna has opened up more and is very talkative. She and Molly get along very well. She even threw a tantrum the other day.Molly has had her baby, a little boy she called Aidan Andrew. Molly is now attending a private high school and is very happy. No one there knows about her Aidan, which is her choice. She still sees Andrew every weekend, though they are not dating any more.

Bethany Danielle - 3 months
Bethany's parents were killed in a car crash and having no other family members, she was placed in the agency. She has been doing very well, cooing and what not.Oliver James - 8 months
Oliver James is the cousin of Bethany. His parents were with Bethany's in the car crash. Oliver is generally a happy baby. He doesn't like water too much. So, bath time can be a pain.
vote up1
a year laterBethany adapted quite quickly to her new parents. She has a good appetite and is an active 1 year old. She loves the dogs and covers them with affection. She requires a lot of supervision because she's always getting into things, but is a happy kid. She is progressing well on her potty training. Lily is thrilled about having a little sister and is teaching Bethany dance steps. Oliver got quite depressed in the first months he was with his new family and so Eliza carried him around in a sling for much of that time. As a result, he bonded tightly to her and is now a calm, happy almost-2-year-old. After a difficult period in the bath, he seems to enjoy bathtime now, as long as he has his bath toys. He loves machines and trucks and trains. He happily spends hours on his own, on the floor of his room, playing with his toys. Felix went through a period of jealousy about the new babies. He seems to accept them now, but he still prefers the company of his parents and Lily.

Alessandra Maria - 15
Alessandra was put into the agency after it was discovered that her step-father both sexually and physically abused her. She often wakes up in the middle of the night with nightmares of her step-father. She is from Cancun, but speaks both Spanish and English because when she was 5, she moved to California. She stayed there until she was 14 She was then transferred into our Bombay agency. While in California, she became a member of her school's color guard team and a great interest of reading grew on her. She loves helping out with smaller children and has decided that when she grows up she wants to be a kindergarten teacher.
vote up1
It's been 2 and a half years now since Alessandra came to live with us and we are completely in love with our new daughter. Sandra is a wonderful girl who is very smart, dependable, helpful and very friendly once she gets to know you. She has a bit of a trust issues but that's understandable as seeing what she went through. her nightmares have almost completely stopped but unfortunately she gets the odd one every few months. We've moved twice since she came and now we currently reside in New Zealand where my husband has been hired for a job. Sandra seems to be doing well with all our traveling and seems to enjoy it as much as we do. She has grown into a mature, responsible, beautiful young woman who I'm very proud to call a daughter.

Malachi Noah and Kaylin Noelle - 4Malachi and Kaylin are twins. They were left on the agency's doorsteps when they were only a few days old. A note found with them simply stated that their parents hoped that someone could give them a better life. Malachi loves cartoons and at 4 years old he is very excited about everything. He is our big helper at the agency and loves socializing. Kaylin is a bit more conservative and stays to herself. She carries the blanket that she was found with and will not sleep with it. She is very dependent on her brother and really only socializes with him. On occasion, she has been caught singing, but mostly it's unknown to others.
vote up1
Allison and Eric are very close. However, when they learned that they were getting another brother and sister, also twins, excited them greatly. Allison and Kaylin have become good friends, though Kaylin is still a little shy. Allison and Eric are now in first grade, and Malachi and Kaylin are in kindergarten. Allison constantly asks to go to the bathroom so that she can go check on Kaylin. The teacher held a meeting with me and asked if Allison had a disease where she had to go to the bathroom a lot, to which I replied that Allison was simply wondering how her adopted sister was doing. The teacher promised to allow Allison to visit Kaylin during English, because Allison didn't need any help in English due to her love of reading. In the beginning, Eric didn't want Allison to find a new friend, so he ignored Malachi. In the past year, however, they have grown to like each other. Now, whenever I want to talk to one of them, they can always be found in our backyard, playing soccer or football.

Callie Aurora and Dimitri Lucas - 15 and 16
Callie and Dimitri were both kicked out of their homes with no where to go. They have been dating for 3 years. They only had sex one time, but that was enough for Callie to become pregnant with a baby girl. Callie enjoys reading and is a talented artist. She loves watching Degrassi and is currently doing online homeschooling because of the pregnancy. Dimitri still attends regular high school. He is on the varsity football team, but also is in the school's symphonic band. He is interested in double-reed instruments such as the oboe and bassoon. He keeps his grades up and plans to attend college when he graduates (even though he's only a junior now) to support his family.
Jeremiah Alec - 14
Jeremiah was left at the agency when it was discovered he had schizophrenia. His parents had no clue what to do to help them or the financial ability. Jeremiah is a great child, but he sometimes loses touch with reality and often has hallucinations. He loves comic books and is an avid video gamer.
Linnea Poppy and Lillian Dora - 1
Linnea and Lillian were left at the adoption agency by teenage parents who could not financially support the twin girls. Their parents still plan to keep contact, but wish for themselves to be called Aunt Sadie and Uncle Mathew. They are okay with you and your husband being their parents. Linnea and Lillian have just begun walking and talking. They are two beautiful bundles of joy.

Two years later...Thank you for our five precious children (and 1 grandchild)...Callie and Dimi are settling into an interesting life as both children and parents (of the charming and sweet Michaela Jane). They broke up a few months before the baby was born, but they remain close. Dimi has been accepted to collage on a football scholarship and will be out of the house too soon, though he promises to visit as often as he can. Callie has found a culinary school close to home that she wants to attend when she graduates. She says she wants to stay at home a while longer and we are happy to have her. Though we do not doubt that her decision is, at least in part, due to the free childcare. Jeremiah is doing very well. He is on some light medications and working with a counselor who is helping him manage the symptoms of his schizophrenia. He is a sweet, smart boy and a wonderful addition to our family. He and Dimi get along like they were born brothers, and you younger children (including Michaela) adore him. Lilly and Linny are double trouble. Their favorite game is "guess who's who" which they play on strangers and friends alike. They love having both big siblings that can give them piggyback rides and take them to the park and a younger niece they can play with. These children have brought our family so much joy and we are thankful for them every day.
Chase and Sheridan.

Kimberly Anne and Olivia Jane- 2Kimberly and Olivia were given up for adoption by their parents because their parents were no longer able to support them. The girls still mention their parents, but it is rarely. Kimberly loves her dolls and is bad about sharing. She is very independent in all she does. Olivia is the opposite. She doesn't mind giving her things aways. She is very dependent and always asks for help. She is a bit of clinger also. Both girls love playing outdoors and have an extreme interest in animals.
vote up1
A year later...Olivia and Katherine (formerly Kimberly) are now three years old, and they now view Noa and Anya as their family; neither brings up their birth parents anymore. Both of them are quite talkative, and Katherine in particular spends hours talking to her dolls, making up complicated life stories for them. Katherine is also a bit better with sharing, but is still nowhere near Olivia's generosity, who will give her toys to any other kid who asks for them. Anya and Noa have tried telling her that it's not okay to be too generous, but it doesn't seem to be sinking in yet. Each of the girls has her own tricycle, and both are very enthusiastic about them; they love going for strolls on them with their mums on weekend afternoons. They also immediately took to Johnny and Pippa, and when the hamsters had cubs, they insisted on keeping two before giving away the others; the baby hamsters were aptly named Ellie and Ava, after Olivia and Katherine's best friends at preschool.Olivia isn't as starved for attention as she used to be, but she still enjoys getting as much screentime as she can. She often helps Noa with cooking as the official sampler, whereas Katherine prefers to watch and eat once the food is ready. Katherine is still very independent, and though she can't tie her own shoelaces yet, which annoys her a bit, she insists on picking out her own clothes. All in all, the girls seemed to have adapted very quickly to their new family, and they certainly look very happy with their new lives
.(I hope my changing the name is all right; if it isn't, let me know.)

Jarek Kacper and Marcel Lucjan - 4
Jarek and Marcel were found in an abandoned home in Poland. A woman heard their cries as she was walking by. Traces of drugs were found in their system which lead doctors to believe that their mother was a drug addict. The boys have now been in the agency for 3 1/2 years. They were only 6 months when they were brought in. Jarek enjoys coloring, watching cartoons and playing outside with his brother.
Marcel enjoys watching cartoons, asking questions (he's a very curious child), and reading (even though he's 4). Svetlana Zoya "Lana"- 3
Svetlana is the child of a 14 year old girl. The mother died giving birth in Russia. The father is unknown. Svetlana stayed with her grandmother for one year until the elderly woman became incapable of caring for herself or Svetlana. Svetlana has taken to being called Lana since she has been at the agency. She is definitely an adventurous child, always finding things to get into. Mia Charlotte and Phoebe Erin - newborns
Mia and Phoebe were taken away from their mother at the hospital when they were born. The reason behind this was because there was visible evidence on the mother's body that abuse was occurring within the home. The mother was given a choice by DCF officials. She could either leave the husband or give up the babies. Refusing to leave her husband, the children were turned over to the agency. The twins are very skittish and jumpy. They tend to stay quiet. And have very healthy sleep and hunger schedules.

It's been two years and our children are now
Adina, 12
Yonatan, 10
Casper, Lucius, Barak & Maayan, 6
Alana, 5
Mia & Phoebe, 2THE ADOPTION
The first few weeks with the children were rough. For starters none of the children could speak Hebrew OR English OR Spanish (those are the only langauges I know) so we had to have my mother there to translate. For those of you who don't know her, my mother is a lovely women and she can understand a little bit of Russian and Polish, but not alot. By the end of the first month with the children we had come up with a system of cards. Food, water, sleep, hug, kiss, and play were just some of the many symbols. Soon the children began to understand us and we understood them. THE CHILDREN NOWAdina is still the leader of the bunch. Yonatan loves to help Adina out. Maayan & Alana are now best friends. This makes Barak jealous at times because Maayan used to exclusivly be friends with his but now she has someone else. Maayan often tries to assure him she does love him and he knows this but is still jealous. Lucius and Casper pretty much stick to one another but are slowly but surely starting to include him. Mia & Phoebe are best friends. They are identical and enjoy each others company but also love hanging out with their older siblings.
