I prefer names that have at least one nickname that I like, and that I like the first one or two syllables as a nickname, even if I don't plan to call them that (because there will always be people who automatically shorten a name to the first one or two syllables)

Catherine/ Katherine - Kat, Katy, Rinny
Alexandra - I really like Alexandra, but I'm conflicted on the nicknames. I don't much like Alex or Allie, which would be inevitable, but I could warm up to it. My favorite nickname is Xandra, followed by Alexa and Sunny. I might also use Xanna or Andra. I hate Lex, Lexi. I love Xan as a nn for Alexander, but not Alexandra.
