Oh Gertrude
I want very much to like Gertrude, I do. It's lumpy and musty and all that good stuff. But the sound is just not appealing to me. It certainly is very earthy, but in a rather harsh way for me. I admire its strength but cannot warm to it.
Nevertheless, I like these combos for their energy:
Gertrude Cecily - quite sweet and sprightly
Gertrude Cybele - unexpected and therefore neat
Gertrude Maisie
Gertrude Opal - Opal makes Gertrude cool old-lady instead of just regular old-lady
Gertrude Plum - cute
Gertrude Poppy
Gertrude Posy - something very hipster about both Gertrude Poppy and Gertrude Posy
Gertrude Violet

I think it's one of the ugliest names imaginable. Gertie is just as ugly. Trudy isn't, but still, it's not great.
I agree. If you must use it I would pair it with a very feminine and frilly mn, because Gertrude sounds very masculine.
Masculine? I think it's thoroughly feminine (albeit in an unconventional sense).
