[Opinions] Matilda
I am particularly loving Matilda at the moment, and especially Matilda Frances, Alice Matilda (not more than Alice Keturah, though) and Agnes Matilda. What are your thoughts and combos re: Matilda?

Matilda is very pretty imo. It's very girly and soft sounding. I would't use it myself though. It's actually very popular here in Australia (I think mostly due to the song). I don't automatcially associate it with Heath Ledger, I doubt it's used here because of 'celebrity worship'. It has been an established name here for a very long time, it's not a name like Maddox or whatever else. I love Agnes too! I would go with Matilda Agnes myself.

I really like Matilda! I'm surprised that it's considered an old and musty name in English speaking countries. I'd be really surprised to meet an old Matilda.

Matilda has really grown on me in the last year. It's classic but not staid. I love the nicks Mattie and Tilly. Fave Matilda combo: Matilda Eve. It's a winner in my book.

Love it!
Alice Matilda is darling - I've considered this as a combo before but abandonned it in favour of Alice Olivia, but now that is off the table, I think I will be making a return to Alice Matilda!I also really love Matilda Rose, even though Rose is filler, I just think it fits so perfectly here. Unfortunately Matilda is really popular where I live (no. 26 I think) so I won't be using it as a first name, but its a definite contender for the mn spot.

I adore Frances as a middle name, so Matilda Frances is definitely striking my fancy.

I don't mind Matilda, but it confuses me. Why is Matilda so hot but other musty old lady names are still considered ugly? Matilda is no more beautiful than Edith or Millicent. Where's the popularity surge for them!? I blame it all on Heath Ledger. I am cool with Matilda, but I am not a fan of the annoying Mattie as a nickname. Tilly is the only way to go in my mind. Sometimes I think a lot of these Matilda-lovers are Madison or Madeline-lovers in disguise tryin' to be tricksy. Oh yeah, we're not trend followers at all, we'll pick the underused and geeky Matilda, but please call her Maddi- uh Mattie. Anyways. I really like your Alice Matilda. It's very sweet. Agnes Matilda would be cute too - Aggie Matilda, aw. So Nan-errific. Here's some:Matilda Eugenie
Matilda Jean
Matilda Pearl
Matilda Maud
Matilda Lucy
Matilda Faye
Matilda Ruth
Matilda Scarlett
Matilda Poppy
Matilda Blanche
Matilda Constance
Matilda Nell
Matilda Clementine

Matilda Ruth*Matilda Maud is too redundant for me. :)

Honestly, I think Matilda has a much, much older feel than Edith or Millicent (medieval as opposed to Victorian), neither of which delight me.

I have a fondness for Matilda because of the Roald Dahl book, but other than that, I'm not particularly moved by it. It sounds like a total hipster name (and probably IS, due to Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams giving this name to their daughter). My favorite of the combos is Matilda Frances; it flows nicely.
