I say them both just as Freya looks - "frey-a".
I don't think it's risky a name at all. It's classy yet also unique. I prefer Freya because the use of the j-as-y is not common for my language and I think it makes Fryea look awkward. I think it may get misprounounced as Freja - or atleast give people pause. They might think it's "Free-ha" like the spanish j :) Which is kinda cool, but not Freya-cool.
I went to art school with a Freya. It fit her perfectly. She was tall, redheaded, Icelandic, and an edgy modern dancer. She was also very nice, but so wickedly intelligent and regal-looking that she was rather imposing. A Freya to a T.
