-It isn't common in the US, but I know it's in the top 100 in the UK. I don't know anyone with the name.
-No, I think it's fine. Most people don't know who Freya is, so they probably won't make fun of the name.
-Definitely prefer the Freya spelling. I don't think Freja would be mispronounced, but Freya looks better.
